Happy Memorial Day

This one melts my heart!  We love you Grandpa!!

Weekend fun

This weekend my nephew John graduated from high school so we took a trip to Greenwood, WI (yes, that's right I have a sister that lives in Greenwood, WI and a bestie that lives in Greenwood, SC - wish they both lived in Milwaukee!).  It was soooo nice to have all my family together.  The last time that happened was at Makenna's baby dedication.
Daddy snuggles

Weeee

This picture cracks me up.  During the graduation ceremony, Makenna was sooo excited to see her cousins that she couldn't keep quiet.  Here is an action shot of daddy trying to quiet her down while Drew tries to egg her on:)
Makenna and her "Cookie Beek" - though when she says it, it sounds more like Cookie Geek.

About 10 tries and the best shot I could get with all the cousins is this one with Makenna digging for gold.  Oh well.

I love love love this one of Makenna, Madison and Bryce in their jammies at the hotel.

Making memories...

There are so many things I want to bottle up at this age so I don't forget them. When we go to the park by our house there are 2 little bridges Makenna likes to run over. When she does she leans over to give me a kiss between each of the bars. I love it!

She is kind of a chicken at the park. She will only go on the swings for 3 pushes then she says "no like mommy". She is certainly not the adventurous type but rather pretty cautious most of the time.

23 months

Well, Makenna Lee - 2 is just around the corner.  Mommy has a lot of work to do planning your birthday party.  It's gotta be a good one - it's your GOLDEN birthday!

This month you have really taken off with talking in sentences.  Your favorite thing to say is "I can do" or "kenna can do".  You typically switch your words around - like you want "goldfish more pppplease" and  "watch TV elmo's world".  Your love to say "hello mommy" or "hello daddy".  You say it with a slight British sounding accent. Ha! I really should get it on video soon.  You say it right away when you get up in the morning and then all day long.  It's so very sweet.  Today we were walking to the park and you looked up in your stroller halfway there and said "hello mommy."

You have also reallly gone crazy with your letters & numbers.  You can sing the alphabet song and have started singing other songs, too.  You can sing Twinkle, Twinkle and you also sing parts of Jesus Loves Me and the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

You are definitely getting ready for the 2's- the temper has started to come out.

It's funny how fast you can go from Drama queen to little sweetheart.  Most of the time you are a super sweet little girl.  You hate holding mommy or daddy's hand, but have started to get more independent when we are out and about and want to walk a lot so we are getting you more used to holding our hands.  When you do hold my hand it is the sweetest feeling ever.  You are tall enough that I don't even have to bend over to hold your hand anymore:)

You are starting to recognize more of your surroundings when we are out and about.  When we pass Kopp's you like to say "ice cream? ice cream?" and the other day daddy passed the bank and you said "sucker bank, daddy" - apparently you remember that you get suckers when the sitter takes you to the bank with her.  Ha!

You are starting to pretend play more and more.  This week you discovered tea parties and love to sit down with daddy and mommy and drink tea.  You also make smoothies for us and have started putting your Abby and Minnie dolls to "nigh nigh".

Your favorite toy this month is probably your tinker toys.  You say tinker toys so cute.  You can spend lots of time sitting nicely trying to get all the parts to fit together.  Daddy likes to play with you and make princess wands and all sorts of fun stuff.  Last night, you thought daddy's creation looked like a stethoscope so you kept calling him doctor.

You also have discovered play doh and love it!  As it gets nicer, we are spending more time outside.  You love the park and a few weeks ago you sat and played in the sandbox at Peggy's house for over an hour all by yourself.  You just played and played.  You loved it.

You are loving having your daddy home more now that tax season is finally over.  You are so sweet to him when he gets home from work.  The other day Oma was babysitting you and daddy got home from work before mommy did and I guess you went absolutely nuts running around the house and squealing in excitement that he was home.  You do love your daddy, Kenna girl.  He's pretty wild about you, too.

Your uncle Derek has been over a few times this week and you learned to say Uncle Derek and you get all excited when you see him now.  You say Grandma and Grandpa now too and have so much fun when we go to their house to visit.  You love to show off in front of everyone.

On to Mr. Monkey pictures...

Oh no, she's on the run again....
