Helping daddy

Loving listening to the "here daddy!" every 5 seconds as she helps daddy build our new Ikea shelf.  My heart is sooo very full this morning realizing just how very blessed I am to have such a sweet girl and such a loving patient hubby/daddy.  I love you Bradley and Makenna!

Fall bike ride

With the BEAUTIFUL weather we are having this week, I conviced myself it was time to pump up those bike tires and get out for a little bike ride with this little sweetie.

She did great for the first 5 minutes or so, then started whining she wanted to go home.  I had the great idea that we should bike to get some pumpkins, knowing that if we had a fun destination in mind she would be alot more excited about staying in the bike trailer.

Ahhh, worked like a charm.  Makenna was SO very excited to pick out a pumpkin, even if it was out of a big trailer at the gas station:)

Decisions, decisions....

Will this one fit in the bike trailer with me, mama?
Ummmm, nope.  We settled on 3 little pumpkin pie pumpkins, 3 baby pumpkins and 5 gourds instead.  Not bad for $5:)

This one was her favorite - she kept calling it a flower since it was a different color than all the other ones.

Makenna was SO excited the whole bike ride home to have so many little pumpkins to play with.  Mommy on the other hand, just about died trying to bike those measly 2 miles all up hill.

Look at my gourd mama!

She kept doing this the whole ride home, which was a good excuse for me to take plenty of pitstops so I could catch my breath - ha!

I think tomorrow maybe we'll take a walk instead!

Car wash with daddy

Daddy insisted Makenna help him wash his car while I make dinner the other night.  I walked outside to find the two of them laughing soooo very hard and both of them soaked!  I love her evil little laugh as she sprays him with the hose:)  I'm pretty sure this is one of those memories daddy will always cherish with his little girl.

Getting ready for halloween....

I've been debating over what to do for halloween costumes this year.  Last year we had SO much fun with the Chorizo costume - seriously, this would be impossible to top:

I think homemade costumes are way cuter and way more fun that store bought (ha - I always complained when I was little that I just wanted my mom to BUY my clothes or BUY my halloween costumes, not make them).  However, we saw this little number at Old Navy this weekend and for $15 I was sold.  She thinks she is Strawberry Shortcake in it, which was what I was thinking of doing anyway.  So, I think we are all set!

Best of all, it is bundleable in case we have a super cold halloween:)

I love you my little strawberry!

Friday afternoon fun

We had a BUSY day today!  Mommy and Daddy are heading to the Badger game on Saturday, so I get to spend the weekend with my COUSINS!!!
Mommy dropped me off in Little Chute on Friday afternoon, but first I got to see my friends in the morning at a playdate then we headed to..... COOKIE BEEK'S!!!
I had just woken up from my nap when we pulled in and I was CRABBY!  Cookie Beek knew just what I needed to put a smile on my face - my very first ice cream cone:)
One lick and I was happy as can be!
Love the smiles!
Of course as soon as I finished my ice cream cone, I asked "Cookie?" and Cookie Beek was sure to keep the treats coming.  Here we are sitting on her front porch enjoying a beautiful fall afternoon
I had a blast running around her house & jumping and playing

I even found some leaves to tickle Cookie Beek with
Tickle, tickle, tickle!
Then we headed inside for a bit and look what I found!  I think I just might be all set for Kermis this weekend!

I love Cookie Beek's bear - it sings Jesus Loves Me and I had fun dancing with it and singing along.

We had such a great afternoon with Cookie Beek.  I treasure these moments when we get to just hang out and hear all her stories and memories of fun times.  I love to see her interact with Makenna and the smile they put on each other's faces.  Makenna, you sure our gift of happiness!  Cookie Beek, I hope we have many more years of great memories with you!

After Cookie Beek's house it was off to Peggy's house to play with Emily & Paige.  You had a great time playing on their swingset and even wanted to try out the monkey bars.  With a little help from mommy, you did great.

After saying goodbye to Emily & Paige we were FINALLY off to see your cousins!!  You were soooo very excited to see them.  When Drew got home from football practice you had the biggest smile on your face and just sat across the kitchen table from him all smitten.  It was so very sweet.  When it was time for me to say goodbye to you, you ran over and gave me a big hug and said "I gonna have lots of fun mama".

I miss you dearly, but know that you are having a blast with your cousins.  I can't wait to hear all about your weekend and all the fun memories you are making with your cousins.  And I am looking forward to spending a nice day together with your daddy tomorrow, too!

Fun with my buddy

Yesterday we had Lexi over for the day while her Mommy got some things done.  I love that these girls are so close in age (less than 2 weeks apart).  Lexi's mommy and I met in our infertility group and we joked about raising little girls together someday.  We really are!!

We had so much fun!

We colored....well, Lexi colored and Makenna peeled all the wrappers off the crayons:)

We both laughed sooo very hard at the "silly alligator"

We shared
We tickled each other
We snuggled during story time

We learned all about Jonah and the big fish

We played princesses after our naps

Aren't we beautiful?
We played in the sprinkler
And we splashed away in the tub to clean up after our fun day!

We had sooo much fun with you Lexi!!  Come back over anytime!

Birthday party fun

Yesterday we went to to a birthday party for some friends of ours.  They had a carnival theme, complete with bouncy houses, a clown, face painting, balloon shapes and cotton candy!  Makenna had a blast.
Here she is picking out what she wanted for her face paint.  The entire time she waited in line she kept saying she was going to get Elmo....then of course as soon as the clown started painting, she wanted Hello Kitty:)
Sitting so still!
My attempt at getting a shot of her face paint...Man, this girl is ADORABLE, isn't she?
Waiting in line for the cotton candy....
Wow, is this all for me?                                                     YUMMY!!

I didn't get a shot of the bouncy house, but it was shaped like a castle and Makenna had so much fun in it!  There were some pretty big steps leading up to the slide at the top & after lots of tries, she finally made it to the top and LOVED it!

Unfortunately it started raining after dinner and they had to deflate the bouncy house... Makenna kept asking - "oh no, where castle go?"

What a fun, fun day!

First day of school!

This is exactly how I feel about it, too, Makenna - can't believe your first day of pre-school is already here!

As daddy would say, it isn't "technically" preschool, it's daycare.  In my opinion if you need a backpack, a lunch packed, and learn and play all day, it's preschool:)

Makenna, you woke up so very excited to start school today.  I heard you yelling over the monitor, Mommy I ready, Mommy I ready.  When I walked into your room and asked you what you were ready for you yelled I READY FOR SCHOOL!  You have such a good memory and you remembered that we prayed before we went to bed last night that you would have a good first day at school.

The token front step picture - you wanted nothing to do with it so getting a picture was tough, but I managed to get a few good ones.

You were very excited to go to school!  You wanted to walk all by yourself which made mommy tear up a little....

You were very excited to get to your classroom and despite a couple other screaming kids in your room, you played with all the toys and were ready for me to leave.
I, on the other hand had a hard time leaving.  You are my baby girl and while it may just be a glorified daycare, it means you are getting older and more independent.
I did a good job holding in my tears until I got out to the car:)

When daddy and I came to pick you up you were SO very excited to see us and went on and on about how much fun you had at school!

You are a "honeybee" this year and here is your nametag and backpack spot in the hallway

You were so excited to see daddy there to pick you up too.

After school we stopped at the mall to pick up some birthday presents for your friend's party this weekend.   You were SO thirsty you guzzled this milk down in no time.

The first day of school is certainly reason to celebrate with a little dinner at Kopp's -  we may have to make this an annual first day of school tradition!  Yumm!

Happy first day of preschool baby girl!!  I hope and pray that this year will be lots of fun and you will learn more and more about Jesus and how much He loves you.
