After 4+ years of waiting, our dream of becoming parents is finally a reality! We wanted to be able to share this journey with our friends and family via this blog. We were blessed with the birth of our embryo adopted daughter Makenna Lee on June 2, 2010. We were doubly blessed on October 14, 2013 when Alexander Brooks was born. Alexander and Makenna are genetic siblings and we are so very thankful to their Texas Fan Club for sharing the gift of life with us!

Happy Father's Day
To my daddy,
Thank you for giving me hugs and kisses every single day
Thank you for making me feel like the princess I am
Thank you for taking care of me
Thank you for teaching me all about the "Brewer Game" and taking me to see our favorite team
Thank you for being silly with me, even at the ball park
Thank you for dropping everything the minute you walk in the door to find me and make me giggle
Thank you for doing just about anything to make me laugh
Thank you for spending one on one time with me
Thank you for telling me every single day that I am beautiful and how much you love me.
Daddy, I love you. I love that God picked you to be my daddy and saved you just for me. You are so very good to me. Thank you for being such a good husband to mommy. Thank you for being such a hard worker so that mommy can stay home from work a few days a week to spend time with me. Thank you for all you do for our family. I am one lucky little girl!!
Happy Father's Day!! I love you!!
Love,
Makenna Lee

Happy early Father's Day to our Dad's!!
Papa,
There is nothing sweeter than the sound of Makenna saying "Papa" over and over again when she sees you. She is so crazy about you and we are so lucky we get to see you so often. Thank you for making us a priority and making sure you get to see us a few times a month. It means so very much to us that Makenna gets to see you and knows how much you and Oma love her. We appreciate all the help you give us!
I'm sure we don't tell you enough, but we love you and appreciate all you do for us!! You are such a loving and caring man and you would do absolutely anything for us. Your heart is so big and we are so thankful for you!
Happy Father's Day Papa!!
Grandpa,
What can I say, Makenna is crazy about you! It took her awhile to warm up to you as much as she did to Grandma, but I must say there is nothing sweeter than seeing her run to you and give you a great big hug. I love how very excited you get every time you see her. She is lucky to have a Grandpa that loves her so very much. Ever since the day she was born, you have raved on and on about how beautiful she is. You can never get enough of her and I always laugh when you start with your "man, I really can't get over just how pretty she is" - I think you say it every time you see her and I'm sure she will cherish hearing that from you for years to come. Makenna loves spending time with you. You have been such a big help to us and we know Makenna is looking forward to spending 2 days a month with you once we move.
I'm sure we don't tell you enough, but we love you and we appreciate all you do for us. You are one of the most giving & caring people we know. We love you!!
Happy Father's Day "Princess" Grandpa!!

Thank you Great Uncle John and Auntie Sharon
I love to come to your house and watch strawberry snortcake. What a perfect birthday gift - a strawberry shortcake sundae from Kopps!

2 year checkup
Makenna had her 2 year checkup last Friday. She's still off the charts:) She's 35 1/2 inches tall (90th percentile), 31 lbs, 13oz (96th percentile) and tiara size 50cm (98th percentile). Developmentally she is doing great. She is a little chatterbox. I love this stage & this age!!

Makenna's Golden Birthday Party!
There are WAY too many pics to put on this one post, so I'm going to attempt to put a link to the party pictures in the sidebar on the right - you should be able to click on it and see them all in one photo album.
Here are the highlights..... actually, let's start with the low-lights....
The day started off not so well, we woke up to Jack #2 floating in the bottom of the fishbowl. Dang, I really can't even keep a fish alive for 4 days. Ha! No worries, the fish store is just a 1/2 mile from our house so we are now the proud owner of Jack #3.
Next, the ice cream dessert I made decided to slide out of the freezer and shatter (in a glass pyrex dish) ALL over the floor. Aargh!
Let's see, next Brad got a call from the auto mechanic letting him know that he failed his emissions test and the fix would cost over $1,000.
Next, my sister's kids locked the keys in their car (while running) before they were ready to leave. Brad did manage to get it open with the use of a long stick through the crack in the window.
Next, our air conditioner starts making a funny noise (on a 90 degree day). Luckily, it turned out to be nothing, but we were a little worried for a few hours there. All of this was before noon!
And finally - time for the party to start and Makenna wakes up with a yucky poopy diaper and a tummy ache. Darn 2 year molars!! Thankfully, the party finally did start and we all had a great time!!
Thanks, Oma for helping me out on the potty with my tummy ache!

Ok, now on to some highlights!!
Got my toes painted for the first time & I'm ready to party!!!
Mama, look who is here - Elmo, Cookie & Big Bird!!
Love how this shelf turned out! Glad we invested the $.99 in Jack #3 - it wouldn't have had quite the same look with a dead fish floating in the fish tank.
The party table (there are more close ups of this on the linked pictures)
Jack #3 swimming away
Makenna insisted that Great Grandma "Cookie Beek" help her open the presents
Makenna LOVED her Elmo cake!!!
Isn't this thing amazing??? Uncle Derek's girlfriend Sanam made it!!
The candles were so far away that Makenna tried blowing them out and finally gave out and decided to go for a bite of the foot instead!
Mommy, Kenna and Daddy digging in
Thanks Sanam & Uncle Derek!!
I had SO much fun planning this party. Thanks to lots of ideas on pinterest I made most of the decorations and pretty inexpensively, too. It was soo worth staying up until midnight every night this week to put it all together!
Thanks everyone for all your help with the party!! We had so much fun and are so lucky to have such awesome family & friends!! Muah!!
