The things you say.....

Makenna, it has been awhile since I blogged about you and the things you say so I thought I better get to it before you grow out of your current "sayings".

At least 100 times a day you say "Do you want to know what?"  Most times it is in the middle of a sentence and you say it 6 or 7 times as you go through trying to tell me something.....Mommy, today I took the "do you know what?" to school - the bus and then do you know what happened when I got there?  I got off the bus and "do you know what?" and on and on.  Other times it is just a filler and you have no idea what you are about to tell me.  That is usually followed by a few seconds of silence (which is rare for you since you are ALWAYS talking).  LOL.

The other thing you say all the time is "I'm not sure" - only the way you say sure sounds more like shoore - it's really cute.  You say it all the time to me - when I ask you what you learned at school, when I ask you what you had for lunch and when you really aren't shoore you say it, too.

You talk all. day. long.  It's funny because the other day I was telling someone that and I paused to think of what you talk about all day long and I couldn't even tell them.  You just have a lot to say I guess.  In fact, Grandpa was babysitting just you last week and when I got home he said "wow, that girl sure can talk!"

You are doing AWESOME at your weekly bible verses for Awana.  Daddy works very hard with you on these and last week I asked you it on the way to Awana and you rattled it off like it was nothing......and it was a really long verse!!

You love to sing.  You are back on your Beauty and the Beat (Veggie Tales) kick and I love it because you have the sweetest little voice when you sing the songs and the words in all of them are great!  I've used them more than once to remind you of lessons we've learned in the bible and how they apply to your life.  Just tonight we were talking about showing love to people that are hard to show love to and I could just see your wheels spinning as you thought of the words to the song and how they related to your issue.

You constantly want to know if we are proud of you and will ask us often - "are you proud of me, mom?"  Sometimes it is for goofy things like washing your hands for 10 full seconds and other times it is for things that I really am proud of you for - like writing your name in title case or counting to 100.

You are generally a very good helper......today you were very excited to help me scrub the spots off the floors...

But sometimes I will tell you to do something that is a non-negotiable and you will very politely just tell me, "no thanks mom".  I suppose it's good that you are polite about it?  I'm hoping you don't do the same to your teachers at school when they tell you to do something....

You are currently obsessed with The Book of Life movie.  The neighbor kids were watching it when you were over there with us for the Super Bowl and I laugh now because at the time you were a ball of tears because they wanted to watch that and you wanted to watch the Little Mermaid.

.
I think you've only seen a few minutes of it, but you are convinced that you want to see it in the movie theater very soon.  You found it at Costco today and insisted on holding it while we shopped.  I will say that you are still very good at putting things back when we are done shopping with out much of a fuss.

You are CRAZY about your brother.....

You guys do really get along pretty well and I love to see you two smile together

You still LOVE to watch TV....in fact lately you have used the whole....mommy, let's surprise Alex and turn on Paw Patrol so he will be so happy....when really I'm pretty sure you just want to watch it.

You snuck a kiss here...

Lately, you have been running in to my room before 7am - I'm usually awake, but I close my eyes to pretend I am sleeping and you climb up in my bed and give me a kiss on the cheek and then run back to your room.  It melts my heart and it is a great way to start my day!

We love Friday afternoon snuggles after Alex wakes up from his nap!

You still love sitting at that computer with daddy just like when you were littler..

You LOVE playing games these days and you are really good at Memory - you kick everyone's butt at it - mine, daddy's and Grandpa's too.  Your memory games tend to have over 40 matches in them so mommy has gotten smart and we created a "speed" memory game where we just flip over all the pieces and try to grab matches as fast as we can.

Oh, and let's not forget - guess the movie!  Anytime there is a moment of silence - at dinner, in the car, you name it you perk up and say - hey, who wants to play guess the movie?  Your movies are always the same - Frozen, Book of Life (which you've never actually seen) and Night at the Museum (which we've never seen - you saw it at Y Care).  Sometimes you will even mix it up and play guess the character.  You are silly Kenna Girl!

Tax season...

Well, tax season is officially in full swing..... while Makenna hasn't made it to the office to visit daddy yet, Bubbers has gotten to take a few trips.

Daddy usually comes home Wednesday nights just in time to scarf down dinner with us and then take Makenna to Awana Cubbies by 6:30.  Last week, we decided it probably made more sense for him to just stay at work and then I could drop her off, swing by with dinner and Alex so he could see him and then Daddy could pick up Makenna after Awana...

Alex may have been the cutest delivery boy EVER!

And Daddy was very appreciative...

He tipped him with lots of kisses....

I mean lots...

As in.... ok, Daddy enough!!

This one cracks me up..... Alex kept trying to reach Daddy's keyboard....he is so very fast, too!  Notice the look on Alex's face and Daddy holding his hand back.  Ha!

It worked out so well last week that we tried it again this week....

Once again Daddy tipped his cute delivery boy with lots of hugs and kisses

And then Alex was off to find the toys...

Anyone wanna play ball?

Are you sure I can't tempt you, Daddy?!?

I took Alex home, put him to bed and got to work and then Daddy and Makenna got home shortly after.  I snapped this picture because we were having to much fun I didn't want to forget the moment.  Daddy has been very sick with a nasty cold he can't seem to shake and between that and tax season, he is a little stressed.  Daddy and Makenna got home past Makenna's bedtime, but they came in the office, sat on the purple couch and just hung out with me while I took a break from my work for awhile.  I can't even remember what had us laughing so hard, probably just Makenna being her normal goofy self, but it felt really good to just hang out and laugh together.

We usually do pizza and a movie on Fridays in tax season, but daddy was beat last night and I picked up pizza on the way home so we decided to all veg out and watch a Veggie Tale.  Alex was so sweet, he walked right over to daddy and asked him to pick him up so they could snuggle.

If you know my son, you know that he is very much a mama's boy and if given the option when we are both sitting there he typically goes for me and if Brad grabs him, he will whine for me so it was soooo sweet to see him go for Daddy.  Daddy was in heaven:)

16 months.....

I actually had to think on that one.....15 months?  Nope - 16 months already.....you are such a big boy, Alex!

So, what are you up to?

You are starting to talk like crazy - many of the things you say only a mom can understand (and claim that they are words) but, nevertheless you are starting to talk!  I love having "conversations" with you - you go on and on with inflection in your voice and everything.  I'm pretty sure you know exactly what you are saying.

Your first consistent word is definitely "Nala" - your sitter has a husky named Nala and you love her so much.

In the morning when I put you in your carseat you look at me and say "Nala?".  Every dog is Nala, every animal is Nala, every where we go you talk about Nala.  You have your "L's" down very well and when you say it, your tongue curls when you say your L and it is so stinkin cute.

Your second consistent word would have to be "sissy".  You love your sissy and even when she is gone to school, you see her picture and you say "sissy!" over and over again.

You do say mama and dada, but not quite as frequently.  You also repeat a lot of what I say - the other day you said "i love you" after I did.  I have tried to repeat it since but you won't oblige.  Grandpa was there to witness that one, so mommy isn't totally crazy:)  Well, maybe she is....

You are a very, very busy boy.  You go, go, go all day long.

You are so very happy..... until you are not.

When you are mad, you let everyone know it.

Most times you are the happiest, sweetest, most content little guy ever.

You are currently obsessed with all things puppies.....you love watching Paw Patrol and whenever it comes on you say "Nala" and "Coco" - the sitter's little guy's name is Rocco and you call him "Coco".  He introduced you to Paw Patrol and I think it's cute that whenever I turn it on you think of him.

The weather has been COOOOLD around here so we haven't made it outside much.... when we do though, you are in heaven.  You LOVE the fresh air and love being able to just run around.

You are a very busy boy.

And definitely like to get into trouble...

After a few rough nights this month, you are actually starting to sleep through the night again......
You still want to be nursed first thing in the morning and right before bed.  Mama is in no hurry to give this up so I'm letting you take the lead on it.

You love a good tubby

And you are getting dangerously close to being able to climb in on your own..

You love to play with the toothpaste tube when I try to brush your teeth...
but you get VERY mad when I take too long to get your dressed after your tub and you SCREAM when you get cold.

You are a great shopping buddy...

And you always get cute comments when you wear this hat...

You of course, eat it right up...

You are turning into a bit of a Daddy's boy which has this mama a little sad.  I think you are getting to the age where you just love it when Daddy is silly and rough with you and you are starting to gravitate toward him.  I love seeing the two of you together and the way he makes you giggle uncontrollably.

You love to read and make a mess of all your books.

And the coat closet..... you like to take all of Sissy's coats off the hangers....

And dig through the refrigerator to see what you can find..... hot sauce!!! Yikes!

You think you are Godzilla sometimes.....

You think you are way too cool to sit in your carseat and you'd prefer to stand in it and just look cute.

We tried our luck with the spoon this month...

And you made a REALLY big mess...

But loved it!

You are a pretty good eater.....for whatever reason you turn your nose up at eggs and pasta which seems crazy to me, but you will eat meat like there is no tomorrow.  You LOVE your morning smoothies and mommy uses them to get most of your veggies in for the day.  You love blueberries and are getting pretty good at drinking most of your milk from a sippy cup.  You only get an occasional bottle when you wake up really crabby..

You LOVE spending Wednesday's with your Oma!!

You are growing out of your 12 month clothes and starting to fit in mostly 18 month clothes.

You still take 2 pretty good naps.... you seemed like you were almost ready to transition to one but that only lasted a week and now you are back down to a nap in the morning from 9:30 or so until 10:30 and then in the afternoon from 1:30/2 until 3/3;30.  You go to bed at 7 or 7:30 and have been waking up pretty early at 6ish.  I normally feed you and put you back down until 7am which is when we start our day....

You are our sweet, sassy, energetic, always moving. always smiling, sweet boy and we love you!
