Music and Muffins

Today was grandparents/family day at Makennas school. Grandpa, Alex and I had a great time watching Makenna perform and show off her school.

17 months in pictures...

Let's talk about this past month in pictures.....

First and MOST important update - you slept through the night every night ALL MONTH!!  Woot Woot!!  

Daddy is getting crazy busy with tax season (as is mommy) but he makes sure to see you every single day, even if it is only for a few minutes.  This night, he got home just in the knick of time before you went to bed.  He didn't waste any time eating dinner or changing out of his work clothes - he came in and scooped you right up so he could read you a story.

When you are angry, You.  Are.  Angry!  

You climb.  On everything.  

You adore your Oma snuggles.

It warmed up this week and you got to go on the swings again!!

And you loved it just as much as you did last year!

You discovered what walking around OUTSIDE is like

And you explored to your little heart's desire.

You and Daddy had a toga party after your tubby one night

And you and your sissy enjoyed lots of Paw Patrol.......which turned out to be your first actual phrase.  You got hooked on Paw Patrol at Ms Jamie's house and you LOVE to watch it.  You say "Paw Pata" over and over again.  You even started singing it a little.....like the theme song to the show.  It really is pretty stinkin cute.

You sucked down your LAST frozen bottle of breast milk......

And SCREAMED when it was all gone! (Mommy did too!)

Don't worry, you are still nursing twice a day so you are still getting the good stuff in the morning when you wake up and before you go to bed.  You are pretty hooked on it and I fear that weaning you will be a pretty big undertaking but I'm not going to rush it.....you'll let me know when you're ready.  

You love all things "Nala" and this is definitely your number one word.

You are a very happy, easy going little boy

Who loves to get into trouble.

You've discovered that you can reach buttons on the washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven......and mama is suddenly so thankful that we opted for the "control lock" features.

You continue to transfer from carseat to bed soooo beautifully!

You wonder why I constantly take a million pictures of you.....yes, even on the toilet.  Don't worry, you have never actually peed on the toilet, but it is a good holding tank for you while I get your tubby ready at night.  I'm still figuring out how we will ever get you to actually pee in it when your little wee wee doesn't actually point towards the toilet bowl....... boys!?!

You love to attempt to climb into the tub and this week you ....

Also thought you could climb OUT of the tub....

Your poor little bunsies hurt from a bad diaper rash and I think you really just didn't want to sit down in the water..

You are so going to kill me for this someday..... sometimes you just gotta air out those red buns and well, I can't NOT take a picture of this cuteness...

You made lots of visits to daddy's work!

Got loved on by your mama LOTS!

Laughed at lots of Paw Patrol...

And started snuggling..... you never used to be a snuggler, but lately you love to give your mama a good snuggle, especially when you are tired.

Discovered that the best way to contain you sometimes is the backpack carrier....  

Learned how to unscrew your bottle.....in the car.....with a very FULL bottle of milk.... ALL over your carseat.   That will stink this summer!!

Played outside in the snow and LOVED it!

Played lots of "speed limit" with your sissy and only managed to fly off of it a few times.

Did I mention you slept through the night all month?!?

Learned how to climb on the train table....

Managed to steal mama's heart over and over and over again...

Sometimes mommy gets lost in her facebook feed as I'm standing in the kitchen and you and your sister are playing.  More than once, I've looked up to catch you standing right under me, looking up and smiling as if to remind me that you are here and you are way better than anything I will find on my facebook feed.  Thanks for the reminder, buddy!

Stolen this daddy's heart over and over and over again.  You and your sister put such a big smile on your daddy's face, even when he's had a way too busy, way too stressful day.  

Let's talk naps.....you are still a rockstar napper.  When you are tired, you usually go grab your nuk and your blankey and come over by me so I can put you to bed.  You sleep for about an hour or more in the morning and your afternoon naps have been pushing 2 hours some days.  You go to bed at 7ish and wake up between 6 and 7am.

One of your favorite toys is definitely your sissy's stroller.  You like to take your puppies for walks in it - put them in, take them out, wheel them around. 

You've discovered the goodness of a Costco smoothie.....

And the brain freeze that often comes with them....

You got to hang out with Bugsey for 2 whole weeks...... and managed to call him "Nala" the entire time.

You actually did better than I expected you would with him.  Bugsey isn't the best dog with kids, which is why he is living with Grandma and Grandpa now so when I found out we were getting him back for 2 weeks I was a little nervous.  You did great with him though - by the end you would get anywhere near him and I would hear you tell me no no no no because you know you aren't allowed to touch him.  

It took until the 10th day or so before you decided that his leash might be fun to play with....

Bugsey was not so thrilled, but you sure had fun.  

You took your first trip to the zoo with these pretty girls..

And couldn't figure out why Grandpa was not there running the train...

You posed so nicely for the monkey picture...

And even for the boat picture....sissy's exact words - Mom, now I ALWAYS have someone to sit in the boat with when we come to the zoo!!

You weren't so excited about the selfie that day.....but hey, these are some good memories and sometimes mama wants to remember that she was on the other side of the camera, too!

You were WIPED out after all that fresh air.

You tried your first bacon....and loved it!

You got pretty excited for the Badgers #1 seed on selection Sunday!

I think your eyes got bluer...

You greeted your sissy after school...

You played dress up with Rocco

And made a super adorable little fire fighter/police man!

You made daddy smile some more...

Found more things to climb on ...

Laid on the ground asking mommy to tickle you....

Got busted trying to throw an entire bottle of Mr. Bubbles over the staircase....

Found more things to climb on....

Found things to occupy yourself while mommy got ready in the morning.....

And overall just made everyone around here smile.  Alot.  You are very good at that Mr. Brooks.  You bring a smile to everyone's face that you meet.  You have a charming little personality and you are the sweetest little thing ever.  Please tell me that a year and a half is not right around the corner and stop growing up so quickly, ok?  Thanks Bubbies.
