Serious cuteness

Thanks Great Auntie Sharon and Uncle John for the ADORABLE Tigger outfit

It makes him smile

Thanks Joanna for this super cute outfit, too!  It fits him perfect and he is sooo stinkin' cute in it!

The things you say....

Daddy and I keep commenting that we really need to write down some of the things you say....

Your "Kenna-isms":

-You are very familiar with how the DVR works and when you see a preview for something you want to watch (usually next week's Sophia the First) you ask us if we will "tape it on" for you.
-You are convinced that you have a baby girl in your belly, too, and that her name is Ariel
-"I'm so big to do that" - whenever you do something you think is a "big girl" thing
- say "ok?" after everything....as in -  after a story we are going to watch TV, ok?
-You are obsessed with your new princess underpants.  There is one pair that is white with green trim and it has Ariel, Jasmine and Rapunzel on them and you will ask me every single day if they are clean and if you can wear them.  If I do the laundry, as soon as it is done you want to put them on immediately and will dig through the dryer to find them
-You have started to pick out your own outfit and if I let you, you would wear your 2 princess shirts every single day
-About - for some reason you like to add the word "about" to a lot of your sentences
-You want to know where everyone lives.... even things like your swim class - Mama, where does my swim class live?
-You like to put the emphasis on the last syllable of things or on a strange syllable..... its hard to type that out, but words like caterpillar, brewer game or butterfly are some of our favorites to hear you say
-When Mommy and Daddy are in the same room and I tell you to ask Daddy if you can do something.... color, watch TV, go outside, etc., you will ask him (with me standing right there) and then tell me - Mama, Daddy said I could, all excited as if I didn't hear him say it.
-You are a CHATTERBOX!  Though I must admit, I love it - I love to hear the things your little mind comes up with and I could listen to you just about all day long.... well, except at nap time when you are supposed to be sleeping and I need a rest too.
-You always want to know what is next - you wake up in the morning asking where we will be going, what we will be doing and who we will see.

Loving our new double stroller!

Tubby time!

Little man's umbilical cord finally fell off yesterday so today we got to give him a real tubby!  He liked this WAY more than last week's sponge bath - I think the warm water felt good:)

This was clearly right after a feeding - look at that chubby baby belly!  Little guy has the skinniest little hips & butt, I think that makes his belly look even bigger.

All clean!

Happy Halloween!

I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of Halloween and all the ghosts and goblins and that sort of thing, but when it come to kids costumes, I just can't resist!
We had a little monkey costume for Alex this year that was a hand me down from cousin Bryce & I was thinking I would just go with that & Makenna could be a princess, wearing one of her princess dresses she already has- that we would keep it simple this year.

That didn't last long.... Thursday after mom left I got the itch to do something more fun for Halloween & decided that even without being able to drive, I could whip something up.

So, Princess Jasmine became the only logical choice of princess & that cute little monkey became Abu!

I'm going to take credit for the cute little hat you see on this monkey.... a little Dixie cup, some red felt I had lying around, a tassel off the Jasmine shoes Makenna had outgrown, a little purple ribbon and lots of safety pins and Voila!, we have Abu!

I've gotta give Uncle Derek the credit for the cute little vest and the Jasmine costume, too!  I was having trouble finding Jasmine from any of the neighbors to borrow, so I was going to make do with a different princess and doll it up to look like Jasmine, but he insisted on finding a Jasmine costume for cheap.  After a quick trip to Target, he scored this CUTE little thing for just $12.  He came over to drop it off on Friday and helped me use the rest of the red felt to make a little red vest for Abu - isn't it adorable?

PS - isn't that little tail hanging out the back so much fun?!?

Aren't they the cutest riding on their magic carpet?

Makenna was in heaven!  She LOVED the Jasmine dress!

And was pretty excited to wear Mommy's "amulet"

Boo!

This one cracks me up - the costume fits him just perfect, even a little tight in the arms once you roll over the sleeves so the entire night his little arms were permanently stuck in this pose.  LOL!

And for all his efforts, Uncle Derek was of course rewarded with lots of baby snuggles

It was a little too cold for Abu to join in the fun, but Makenna had a blast trick or treating with her neighbor buddies, Hannah & Ryan and the daddies!

Mommy & this little goblin hung out with Hannah & Ryan's mommy and their little 12 week old brother Jacob.  I am so excited that the kiddos have neighbors so close in age and I look forward to Jacob & Alex growing up together!

Afternoon with my first love...

This afternoon Makenna and I got to get away on our own and spend some good girl time together at a birthday party for our sweet friends, Bella & Blake.  It was at a local gymnastics place and Makenna had a blast!
She is finally getting better at jumping on the trampoline

Mama, look at me!

She thought she was hanging upside down from the bars here & that she was such a big girl for doing it - she kept yelling, watch me Mama!!

Kenna girl, I had so much fun hanging out with you this afternoon!  I know we haven't been able to hang out much just the two of us since brother has come along & it was so nice to focus my full attention on you for a few hours.  I love you, baby girl!!

Worth the wait

She's waited my entire pregnancy for this moment.....the double cart at Target!  In fact, the first thing she wanted to do when we brought Alex home from the hospital was go to Target.... for this very reason.  Silly girl!

Nothing sweeter than baby snuggles

Mystery solved!!

I found out who sent me the cute diaper bag - a super sweet client of mine!  What a nice surprise!!  I feel much better now that I can send a thank you note...I was really starting to worry I would never figure out who it was from!

Our first walk...

Today the sun is shining and Mama is getting tired of sitting around.  It is SOOO cold outside, but at least it is sunny!  Time for your first walk.

You were so bundled up!

With blankets all around you and two canopies covering you I'm not sure you even knew you were outside.  We didn't make it very far because it was REALLY windy and mama was getting cold but it did feel good to get some fresh air!

Here you are passed out on the living room floor when we got home.  Such a sweet, sweet boy!

Thank you Oma!

This week we were so very blessed to have Oma come help us out for a few days.  There is just something comforting about having mom around in the midst of life changes....it was a great couple of days and I was able to catch up on some sleep, eat way too much apple pie and not have to worry about cooking for a few days.

My favorite part of the week was watching her snuggle with Alex, studying each facial expression - the grimaces, sleepy smiles, grunts and frowns.  Alex, you bring so much joy to us - I am so thankful for the blessing you are not only to us but to your Aunties, Uncles, Oma, Papa, Grandma & Grandpa, too!

Thanks Oma for all your help!  We love you!!

My new midnight

I haven't seen much of these little eyeballs all day but for the 3rd night in a row, once my midnight rolls around this little guy is WIDE awake.  Thankfully Oma has been here to help out so I've been able to get my naps in.  Hopefully he'll get sleepy soon....mama is TIRED!

Mama-razzi

Ok, I admit it - I'm addicted to taking pictures of this sweetie.  But - given you are back to visit, I have a feeling you like seeing this cutie pie, too:)  It's ok, he's adorable....he knows it!

Here are some faves from the last few days...and yes, I am going to need to start deleting some off my phone it is already getting full!

We got this super cute blanket from our friends Robin & Chester.  I swear she is always the best at gifts!  I teared up when I saw a package with his name on it and then again after I opened this - isn't it sooo sweet!  I still can't believe he's here and he's ours!

This might be one of my favorite pics - thank you Auntie Sharon for the sweet Tigger outfit - the little ears are soooo cute on him!

Love those wrinkly little baby hands - how long before they are filled in with chubby little rolls, that is the question?

Tried taking a few shots with the little snowflake necklace..

Love this one!

Love the sleepy smiles

You have baby Alex to thank for the influx of blog posts this evening....someone has decided that 11pm is the perfect time to be wide awake for the third night in a row.  Mama decided to make tonight's 11pm witching hour productive and get some of these things on the blog!  Thankfully he is entirely content at this hour, just refuses to go to sleep.

Thanks to Oma, I was able to "nap" from 8:30 - 10:30 tonight so I'm feeling like a whole new woman!  If only I can get at least one more 2 hour stretch of sleep tonight...... Here's to hoping!

Big sister

Makenna is an AWESOME big sister!  She really is adjusting well to having "baby Alex" around and keeps asking me if we are going anywhere - I think me being at the hospital all last week was a little tough on her so before she goes to bed she likes to ask to make sure I'll be there when she wakes up.  And then she asks if my baby will be here too and is very happy to hear that we will.

She always wants to hold him on her lap

She thinks she is such a big girl when I let her hold him

Every night (and nap) she wants to hold him in her bed and for me to take their picture.  She keeps asking if he can sleep in her bed, too.

Story time with Daddy and the kids (yes, it still does feel weird to call them the "kids")

Alex got her a big doll house when he came home and she has been in 7th heaven with it - she is quick to tell everyone that Baby Alex got it for her and can literally spend HOURS playing with her princesses in it.  It cracks me up to hear her imagination at work as she plays make believe....

Sunday morning she woke up and really wanted to go to Target.  I asked her why and she told me that now that brother was here, we could use one of the carts that has the extra seats in it.  Girl has a good memory.

She is very concerned every time he cries - she always asks me - "Mama, why is your baby crying?  Does he have a poopy diaper?  Check his diaper!  Does he want some mommy's milk?  Feed him, Mama!"  It is very sweet and she is really been great at helping me out with getting a diaper or grabbing things that are out of my reach.

The first few days she had a bit of a hard time with listening and throwing temper tantrums but today we had a better day... poor thing has been through a lot of change in the past week and all in all she is handling it very well.

You like to call Alex either brother, your baby, our baby, buddy or baby Alex.  I love to see the two of you interact together and look forward to all the memories we will make together!

Makenna, you are a GREAT big sister!

One week old....

Alex, I can't believe you are already one week old!  You are such a happy little guy, really only crying when you are naked, cold or hungry.  You are pretty laid back and are content in our arms, in your swing or watching your big sister play from in your bouncy seat.  I can't believe how teeny tiny you are and I just want to bottle up every day - knowing that in no time at all you will no longer be the sweet, cuddly newborn.  I'm loving spending all this time with you, spoiling you with kisses and snuggles.  You truly are an answer to prayer, little man.  I love you more than I even thought was possible.

Today, Auntie Amy came down and you had lots of sleepy smiles for her as she spoiled you rotten all day

You had your one week checkup and you did great.  You are back to your birth weight!!  Yay!  That means mama doesn't need to keep pumping and breastfeeding you and can really switch to just breastfeeding!

Happy (one week) birthday, buddy!!

First tubby

No, he did not like it...

Yes, he screamed the whole time...

Poor little guy was just FREEZING!
