We love our neighborhood!

We are having such a fun summer and are finding that our prayers have really been answered for an awesome neighborhood!

When we started the hunt for a new house a few years ago, we were pre Alex and it was heavy on my heart to find a neighborhood with lots of kids in case Makenna turned out to be an only child.  I remember when we first looked at this house, I was excited at the wide open backyard and the playset in the neighbors backyard  - I envisioned Makenna playing back there with the neighbor kids some day and it seemed like the perfect fit.

Well, this summer those prayers are definitely getting answered!  We have so many great neighbors and have spent many summer nights hanging out with them and letting the kids run around and have a blast.  I must admit I usually forget to take pictures (shocking, right?!) but I keep meaning to post the few that I have taken.
This is Makenna and her friend Hannah - they moved into their house this past year and Makenna just adores Hannah!

Such sweeties

Let it Go with the neighbor kids

Silly girls...

One of my oldest memory from childhood is catching fireflies with my cousins in Indiana.  We don't have fireflies where I grew up so I was SUPER excited to discover that we had them in Milwaukee.  You can't quite see this one, but here is Makenna catching fireflies with the neighbors - Zach, Dom, Maddie and Ben.  I'm sure next year Alex and Vince will join right on in, too!

Ahhhh, summer nights!!

Thank you Lord for answering this prayer and blowing our socks off not only with awesome neighbors and friends, but with a sweet little boy too!

Air Show....well, not quite

This weekend we got invited back to the air show down by the lake by a client of ours.  They have an AWESOME spot right on the lake and we were pretty excited about it!
This little guy even busted out his "Daddy's Little Wingman" shirt

They really do it up right, complete with face painting....

Makenna of course picked Olaf & Elsa!  Thought I must admit the face painter was a little nervous about trying Elsa but I think she did a great job

And this little sweetie got his first face paint....Brew game of course!!  Not too bad of a job for a very squirmy baby.  I may or may not have held him in a head lock the entire time he painted this on.  Ha!

We had some super fun family time

Got to play in the grass (love his EVIL smile here)

Got to pretend we were airplanes

Hang out in the big tent (to avoid the rain)

Dress up silly for some pictures in the photo booth

Act REALLY goofy with mommy and daddy

Take a good nap, complete with silverware in our hands......wait, how did he get that?

Play on the rocks...in the fog (notice that is Lake Michigan 20 feet behind her but you can't even see it because of the fog)

Rain rain go away, we want to see an air show today!!

The air show never did get off the ground.  Too much rain and fog.

I must admit we had a pretty great time anyway!

Afterwards we headed to the coffee shop for a little hot chocolate....

And pick out some new work shoes for daddy.... such a good helper!

Fun with the kiddos

We needed a little fun today so we started off with this.....

And then headed to the zoo for this....

SURPRISE Grandpa!!

Might be one of my new favorite pictures;)

Alex's first train ride!!

On to the animals

Go ahead.  Take the stupid monkey picture.  Can we go back to the train now?

She loves the zoo....well, everything BUT the animals at the zoo

Love that little chin

A quick nap for the boy

So brave to go on the ferris wheel (that is what she kept calling it), er, Merry Go Round all by herSELF!

Back to the train....still waking up..

He LOVED it!

What a great day!!

Happy Father's Day

I wanted to shout out a Happy Father's Day to Brad as well as our Dad's.  Our kids are pretty lucky to have some awesome guys in their lives!!

Brad, seeing you with kids brings out a whole new softer side of you that I am so lucky to be able to see everyday.  You continually put the kid's needs first and are such a selfless dad.  I love how their faces light up when they see you come home from work or the way your tone changes on the phone the second you hear Makenna's voice - I can actually hear the smile on your face:)  I still remember the smile you had on your face the first time you held our little boy.  I couldn't see your mouth, but your eyes said it all.

While you learned quickly how to be a daddy to a little girl and did an AWESOME job, it is so fun to see you with your little boy.  We truly have been blessed with the perfect little family.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!!  We love you!!

Surprised daddy this morning with his favorite....George Webb's for breakfast!  Ok, and a coffee for mama.....but in my defense Alex was up TWICE last night:)

Bringing Daddy breakfast in bed...

Happy Father's Day (don't mind the tears from Makenna - just keeping it real!)
