14 months for my big boy on 12.14 - I suppose that kind of makes it a "golden" birthday. Ha ha! All month I kept telling myself I was going to do more blogging instead of just this one end of the month big blog post but once again I failed. My goal was to spend less time on facebook and use that time I waste on there to upload a few pictures and memories to the blog real time. I am actually doing pretty good at staying off face book (which is a whole different blog post....if I ever get around to it) but still haven't found the time to blog. Whoops! In order to break this blog post up into the entire month, I think I'll back date a few of this month's blog posts so it will feel like I stayed on top of it. If you are interested in reading them, you'll have to scroll down to earlier in the month to find them...
So, let's do a little month rewind.... between Thanksgiving, our annual Kalahari trip and getting ready for Christmas, this has actually been a pretty busy month!
We had a busy month mastering the walk...what started out as one arm out to keep balance has turned into an all out sprint around the house. He is actually getting pretty fast and has learned how to stand back up when he falls down (vs. crawling over to the nearest wall to climb himself back to standing).
He went for awhile where he always had to have something in his hand while he walked, I think it made him think he was holding on to one of our hands or something.
I still can't get used to seeing something out of the corner of my eye and then realizing that it is Alex just cruising around the house.
We're slowly working on dropping a feeding though he was sick a good part of the month so I didn't try too hard. I have a feeling by the end of this month he should be down to just needing mama in the morning and before bed. We'll see. He hasn't been great with bottles lately so I'm hesitant to rush anything.
He does love his morning spinach, yogurt, OJ, banana, cranberry, blueberry smoothies so I guess he is getting some good liquids there.
Sleep this month has been well....... HORRIBLE!! I'm pretty sure he didn't get more than 5 nights of sleeping through the night all month. He's had one cold after the other and I'm pretty sure he has a molar coming in. Poor guy. He went for a few nights there where he refused to go back to bed in the middle of the night. He just wanted to be held and even then he would pick his head up and scream every few minutes.
One night I gave in and let him watch Elmo with me at 2am. He was in heaven! He makes this little "uuuugh" noise when he's excited and as soon as he saw Elmo and Big Bird on the TV he went crazy. Sassy boy!
Daddy has discovered that Alex really likes disco. He plays him Alvin and the Chipmunks rendition of "Stayin Alive" at dinner every night and Alex goes crazy for it.
Alex got to spend LOTS of time with mommy this month and we loved every minute. My sitter just had a baby so I had to take some extra days off this month and attempt to work from home a few days. Between that, Thanksgiving and our Kalahari trip and then a few Alex sick days, he may have gotten a little spoiled:)
I'm a really funny lunch date.
We had our first measurable snowfall so Alex got to take a sled ride to the bus stop
And we even got out to play in the snow for the first time
Mom, I can't move
I may or may not have let the sled tip over right into a pile of snow.......Oops!!! Apparently being frozen for 7 years does NOT make you any tougher in it.
He eventually recovered....
And had lots of fun watching sissy & Hannah play in the snow!
Alex's new favorite thing is to cover his face for a game of peek whenever you say....Where's Alex??
It's pretty hilarious.... Makenna always says - but mom, he can see us!
He's usually a pretty happy kid but the word "no" has a tendency to bring out the tears.... especially when it is something really fun like ramming your train into the Christmas tree. Sorry bubbers...
Last Friday, his Christmas outfit came in the mail so I couldn't resist and impromptu photo shoot...
Let's just say it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a picture of these two...

Not bad for a Black Friday special....$14.99 for the whole outfit and another $2 for the hat. Score!
Daddy took Makenna on a date that night.... they went out for a nice dinner and then to see a Christmas Ballet.
Love that they do these things together!
Last Saturday was St. Nick and the kiddos were excited to find they had goodies in their stockings.....
Alex was a little confused at first...
But pretty excited when he found something wrapped in Sesame Street wrapping paper....
Makenna's reaction was priceless. She got a Beauty and the Beet CD and she was SO excited. I of course accidentally forgot to hit start on the video I was taking on my phone......oops!
Back to the scene of the crime.....
Last week he got another cold! It started out with a fever on Wednesday night when I picked him up from the sitter and it was downhill from there.
Here he is relaxing and watching cartoons at the sitters house..
Makenna was nice enough to snuggle him and watch Sesame Street with him...... don't let the picture fool you though, 2 seconds later he was ducking out from under her arm whining at her to go away. Lol!
He doesn't usually ever watch TV but when he was sick it made him content at least for a little while. Here he is watching Curious George with his George doll, and Big Bird and Cookie Monster...Oh, and Sissy's pink toilet back there, too. Ha!
Alex, overall you are a very happy, chill baby. You aren't so happy when you are sick, but you are a typical boy. I've had to do a little more snuggling and carrying you around this month but I don't mind one bit......
