You are FINALLY sleeping better!! Woot Woot!! You made it a few weeks this month without getting up in the middle of the night at all! The past week or so you have gotten up at midnight but then are back to sleep the rest of the night. I put you down around 7:30 or 8:30 and then you get up around 7. You have been waking up closer to 6am a few times this month and I try to let you fall back asleep and you usually do but if you decide not to, you are ready for your nap before 8am already and it throws our whole day off. Of course last night you decided you wanted to celebrate your birthday with mama and you were up at midnight AND 4am SCREAMING.
You are a pretty good eater. You still nurse 4 or 5 times a day and eat solid foods for lunch and dinner. You aren't too picky, thought you often get bored before you are done with your food and don't end up finishing it. You are very timid when I feed you the first few bites of something, trying to figure out if you like it or not.
You still have no teeth, though I swear you have been teething for a few months now. You still chew on everything and you have started getting a little fussier which I keep blaming on the teeth, but still nothing to show for it.
Your latest obsession is lights - mainly the light in the stairs. Whenever I try to carry you up the stairs, you will arch your back to see if the light is on or off. If it is off you will look at me and then back at the light. Once I turn it on, your whole face lights up with a big smile. It is the strangest, funniest thing.
You now take big boy baths with your big sister and you absolutely love them. You don't mind the water in your eyes at all and you could sit in there and splash all day long.
You love to play with your sister's Barbie car - you spin the wheels and turn it upside down to figure out how it works.
You are getting pretty close to crawling. If I lay you on your tummy on the hard wood floor, you can scoot all over, mostly sliding backward on your tummy. You love to jump. You adore your jumperoo and if I try to stand you up on my lap you immediately start to jump.
I'm sure it is too early to tell, but you seem to be favoring your left hand - you pound on the table with your left arm. Daddy is happy about this:)
You still take at least 3 naps a day - if your morning nap is too short sometimes you will squeeze in a 4th cat nap at lunch time if we are out and about. Some days you take awesome 2 hour naps but most days they are closer to 45 minutes to an hour.
You poop all. the. time. I don't remember your sister pooping this much once she started eating solids, but maybe it is the teeth coming in?! Ick. Here you are after pooping right through your diaper during nap..
You LOVE the swings at the park and I'm pretty sure you could spend all day in them. I have a feeling we will be taking lots of walks to the Pirate Park this summer.
Just today you started talking a little more again - you started with the "B" sounds. I keep trying to teach you "mama" but you just look at me and smile everytime I tell you to say it. You also laugh every time I try to sing to you.
Yesterday we went to the library and you had lots of fun checking out their summer fun stuff....
You tried fishing.....and then proceeded to spit up ALL over the inside of this bin. Oops!! Good thing the fish were laminated!

All that wore you out so you took a snooze while sissy played at the park
Makenna: Your big sister continues to be crazy about you. I'm sure it won't last long, but she is even sharing her toys with you. You love her soooo much and she can get a smile out of you just by walking in a room. She loves to Roar! you and you like to giggle and giggle when she does it. She has started calling you mainly just Alex and she likes to refer to herself as "sissy".
Mommy: Little guy, this mama is crazy about you. You are the sweetest thing ever and you really do make me so very happy. Your smile is contagious and I look so forward to seeing it after a long day's work. I call you mostly Alex though I will sometimes call you "Mr. Brooks" or your full name, Alexander Brooks. I still haven't found a nickname that has stuck. I refer to you as "Bub Bubs" sometimes too.
We still haven't quite figured out how to work out your morning nap schedule with church on Sunday mornings. You have been falling asleep on the way to church but if we try to take you in, you wake up right away at the sound of the loud music. The last few weeks I have been taking you for walks around the church parking lot while I listen to the live streamed sermon on my phone. It has actually been some really sweet time with you and once you fall asleep, I kick back outside and continue listening while I pray over you.
Daddy: Alex your daddy is head over heels in love with you. We've been spending a lot more family time together now that work has kind of slowed down and he loves to spend time with his buddy boy. I think his favorite time is in the mornings when you get up and he brings you into our bed to cuddle with him.
Daddy gets so very excited to see you and your sissy after a long day of work - he always has a big smile on his face and it makes his day to see you and Makenna all excited to see him.
Last night Daddy showed you and Makenna some baseball skills.
He is coaching your sister's Tball team this year and you already love going to cheer them on.
