Well, Makenna's room is just about done. I LOVE how it turned out and I'm so glad she is excited about it, too. We wanted to do a princess theme, but nothing too commercialized. I thought pink walls might be a bit too much, so we opted for "Tame Teal" and then added some pink splashes all over the room. I am in love with chevron print lately so I thought it might be cute to add a little chevron teal here and there.
The chevron blankets were a steal at Tuesday Morning for $15.
Note the Milwaukee Brewer trash can from 1982:) Daddy got this when he was 4 and it has been in his room ever since. He insists his little girl gets it now:)
The mirror on the wall is one of my favorite finds and I managed to get a bargain of a deal on that too. I found it at Marshall's this week and it was a little pricier than I would have liked. I noticed a big gouge out of the top of it and after a little finagling with the sales lady I scored 1/2 off the marked price:) Score!!
The circle chair was a bit of a splurge, but we are SO glad we got it. It is our favorite book reading, snuggling before bed, lounging on while she is playing in her room spot. I had been looking for a canopy for over it for sometime, but had little luck finding anything I really like for a reasonable price. I found a plain white one at Ikea for $20 last week & while it was more than I wanted to spend and not decorative enough for me, I bought it and after a little tulle to jazz it up, I think it turned out cute.
I found the frame at Hobby Lobby and put pictures of Makenna with her friends in it.
I did end up putting one Disney princess on the wall - we got this picture of Ariel from a Disney artist that was doing free drawings at a tour of homes in the area. Makenna loves it so I framed it and think it looks cute in here.
Please note that, no, her room is never this clean.... I told her to quick go and find daddy and give him a kiss while I quick hid all her toys that are normally on that little ledge so I could get a clean looking picture.
I couldn't find out what to use for tie backs - found these cute drawer pulls at Anthropologie and with the beads as tie backs I think they look pretty cute. Although, I don't trust curtains or beads so close to her bed so most all the time this curtain is pulled back to the other side where it is out of her reach.
Daddy of course made sure to recreate her Milwaukee Brewers logo again in our new house (he painted it right on the wall at the old house). Since her intials are MB he thought it was only fitting to paint her the old school MB ball & glove logo. Since she is his "Brewer Princess" I went ahead and found that big old crown to put over the logo:)
As for her Makenna Best letters, they were formerly pink with white and pink with brown polka dots. I took the pink with brown letters, painted them teal and mod podged some paper in the shape of chevron onto them and voila!
Daddy made her this for her 1st birthday:)
The chandelier I found at TJ Maxx and really love how it looks hanging over her crib.
I'm not sure where these are going yet - I have 3 hooks I found like this at Kohl's on clearance for $5 each. I think they might be cute to hang her beads on and maybe one in her closet, too.
Makenna loves her new room. Last week daddy hung the canopy and we snuggled underneath it on our circle chair before bed. As I put her to bed she looked at me and said look at my room mommy! My daddy made it for me!
The next morning she woke up and while still laying in her crib looked up and said "Look at my room, mama. It's bootiful!"
It was sooo very sweet:)
