Little boy, how is it even possible that you are 6 months already?!?! I know every month for the next few years I will probably mind myself repeating this, but I LOVE this age and so far it is my favorite!!
You are SO interactive and sweet and just such a happy boy. The best part is that tax season is finally OVER and daddy can enjoy you now, too!! Today he picked your sister up from school for the first time in a few weeks and I was sooo excited because that meant I got to spend about an hour and a half of sweet time just you and me. I have to pick you up from the sitter by 4:30 and in tax season I would pick you up, go home and nurse you and then we'd jump back in the car and drive all the way to your sister's school to get her by 6:00 - it worked for a season, but I'm SOOO thankful that daddy can pick her up now and you and I get some snuggle time after work!
Your 6 month appointment is this Thursday and I'm anxious to see how big you are. You aren't nearly as chubby as your sister was at 6 months and she weighed 19lbs 2 oz! I'm pretty sure you are probably closer to 17lbs, but we will see!
So, what are you up to this month?
-You started solids a few weeks ago - you kept staring at mommy and sister when we would eat so I figured you were ready. You get pretty excited when it is time to eat - your hands and feet move like crazy. So far you've only tried bananas, avocados, pears and rice cereal. You make a funny face at everything but the rice cereal.
-You are working hard at sitting up, but you aren't quite there yet. You still topple forward and roll or flop back quite a bit. Looks like we gotta do a little more "hard working"
-Sleep.....well, not quite yet.... You were actually getting pretty good for a few weeks there. You would sleep all swaddled up with your hat over your eyes (cruel, I know - but hey, it helped you fall back asleep on your own when you woke up in the middle of the night).
I must admit there was a day when your hat was in the laundry and....well...mommy had to make do with this...
Pretty sure you are going to kill me for this someday.... but hey, when your sister's underpants (they were clean at least!) are the only thing that fits over your big old head then we do what we need to so we can all get some sleep! Lol!!
Just last night, however, you decided that it was really fun to try to roll over in your swaddle so you officially graduated out of it..... and out of the underpants hat, too.
-You LOVE your jumperoo! You are getting really good at getting some serious ups in it and it will almost always cheer you up when you are grumpy or bored when we put you in it.
So serious as you try to figure out how it works..
-Tubby time is pretty near impossible with you. I had you in your green tub, but you try to stretch out and flop down in it every time. I switched you to your ducky tub and you are doing a little better, but still try to stretch out and make it tough to handle you!
-You are still a social little butterfly - I'm pretty sure you actually have the opposite of stranger anxiety right now - you can't get enough attention! This month you got to meet your cousin Penelope for the first time - I look forward to you guys growing up together, but I sure wished she lived closer!
You also had a SUPER fun playdate with your friend Quincy!
-You think fart noises are the funniest thing ever. I'm sure this will continue the rest of your life, I just think its funny that it starts this young.
-Your Oma loves to make you laugh and can get some pretty good giggles out of you. She makes funny noises and faces and you think it is the funniest thing every.
Makenna: Your sister adores you, buddy.
She is SUCH a good helper and was soooo good at helping me take care of you this tax season - she was so patient when I needed to care for you and did a great job helping me get you ready for bed at night. She loves making you smile and I am enjoying seeing the two of you start to act silly together.
Oh, and her favorite thing this month..... picking the sock lint out of your toes. I know, it is kind of gross, but she is OBSESSED with you having clean toes!
Daddy: Your daddy is soooooooo excited to be done with tax season and ready to spend LOTS of time with his "buddy boy". Just tonight at dinner he was getting the biggest smiles out of you and it makes me so happy to see you so sweet with him. He tried so hard this tax season to make sure he saw you kids every day - either at night before bed or first thing in the morning and I know it wasn't always easy, but that is what makes your daddy so special. I look forward to these next few days and weeks and seeing you two get to spend even more time together!!
