Thanksgiving fun!

We had a very busy, but very blessed Thanksgiving!

 

We have soooo much to be thankful for this year - I still can't believe we have 2 kiddos!!  Alex is such a blessing and as tough as it was getting everyone ready Thanksgiving morning after a rough night's sleep (or lack thereof) and a long loud drive to Green Bay with multiple pit stops, it was soooo worth it to be able to create memories like these...

Great Grandma was SO very excited to meet Alex.... warms my heart to see them loving on him - all 3 of our kids great-grandparents are in their mid 90's and going through infertility we often wondered if they'd live long enough to meet our kids - makes moments like these that much sweeter!

Makenna, of course, headed right for Great Grandma's organ.  I love how you can see Rita in the background loving on Alex....too sweet.

Thanksgiving lunch was too much for Alex - he was wiped out!

After Great Grandma and Grandpa #1 we headed over to Auntie Amy & Uncle Eric's house for Thanksgiving #2 - Makenna was SO excited to see her cousins!!  And Alex got to meet his cousins for the first time!

Thursday night Makenna got dressed in Madison's PJ's, ran downstairs and in the most excited, cutest voice EVER asked me if she could sleep over.  How could I say no to this?  She had a blast! When Auntie Amy came in Madison's room at 5am before work Makenna, as wide eyed as can be, asked - "now can we watch Tinkerbell?"  Ha!

Saturday we headed to Auntie Kate's baby shower.  Alex and little bean will be the first 2 grandkids that my parents have that will be the same age - all the others are spaced out by 2 or more years.

Saturday we headed over to Peggy's house to meet her little new baby, Tyler.  Tyler is just 3 days old here!  Alex snuggled right in with him.

We headed back on Saturday night and this little one had her fill of fun, excitement and SUGAR!  She crashed on the car ride home and daddy carried her up to bed, coat still on.  This is the sign of a GREAT weekend!!

Love days like this --- this morning me and the kiddos snuggled in bed and watched cartoons...

Although I must admit, she snuggled with us just long enough for this picture and then Alex grunted in her ear too many times and she couldn't hear Sophia the First so she moved to the other side of the bed - ha!

 

I suggested we go play outside (thinking there was NO way she would want to) and of course she was all excited! 

Notice the sandals by the door - she started by putting these on and telling me she wanted to go out.  So, I let her - no coat & sandals just to avoid a fight and let her figure out for herself that she needed to bundle up to go outside.  It worked - she came back in and asked for more clothes..

Then she saw the neighbor girl outside and it was all over.... love that we have a fun neighborhood full of kiddos and that I have a patio door that allows me and Alex to stay warm inside while she goes out back to sled down the little hill!

It was so sweet watching them sled & make snow angels together..

 

And just as sweet to be inside watching this little guy snooze away!

Ok, time for a nap for this mama!!  Thankfully the fresh air wiped Makenna out and she is taking a nap for the second day in a row!!  That NEVER happens anymore.  Alex is out, Daddy is on his way home from work soon and I need a power nap!!

What happened to my skinny little boy?

Watching the Sophia the First Ariel special on Disney Junior Sunday night... they have been showing previews for the last month which is down right CRUEL to parents!  I swear she asked me every day for the last month if it would be on today.  We made a special night of it and her and Daddy snuggled and watched it together.

Ahhh, the magical blinds, Alex's current favorite thing in the whole house.  He will stare at them all day and has recently started smiling and talking to them.  Here is daddy in the heat of fussy time using them to calm him down.

Saturday we joined in the fun at Good Harvest Market's annual PJ sale!  We've gone for the last few years now and this year Makenna thought it was SO COOL to be able to get up, leave her jammies on and go to the store! 

 

Alex even joined in the fun in his PJ's, but he slept the whole time:)  Good boy!!

Downtown Christmas Fireworks

The weather was quite balmy yesterday so we decided to make an impromptu trip downtown to see the Christmas Lighting ceremony & the fireworks! 

 

Makenna was SOO excited to see the fireworks, but after picking her up from school and getting stuck in traffic and not being able to find a parking spot we weren't sure it was worth the hassle of getting both kiddos in the car & ready to go....

 

 

But seeing these 2 oooh and ahhh as they watched the fireworks together - yup - totally worth it!!

 

We made it downtown just in time - I dropped them off, parked a few blocks away and then walked with Alex to meet up with Daddy and Kennagirl at the park just before the fireworks started.  I love nights like this!  I always feel bad taking pictures when I should be enjoying the moment, but I love getting shots like this and honestly, I'm not sure I'd have the awesome memories I do of our family without the pictures to look at and remember!

After the fireworks we even braved dinner at a restaurant downtown - the kids did pretty good until Alex got hungry and I was forced to feed him in the bathroom and then he started to get fussy and it was all down hill from there.  Ha!  Life with 2 kiddos!!  Still so glad we went though!!
